Backstep

When the player flicks on the left side of the screen in the direction opposite of an enemy target's position, the controlled character will quickly perform a Backstep, distancing themselves from their target.

General

Performing a Backstep consumes 1 CC, in the Recollection Mode there is no cost. For a very brief amount of time after performing a Backstep, the damage taken of the first hit will be reduced 1. This can also be utilized to extend a combo, or begin one, though it can only be linked once.

A Successful Backstep is when the Backstep is activated at the moment of impact which can yield additional benefits. Chain Capacity can be recovered, the amount of CC recovered is +6 for the first time, and then increases by +1 for each Successful Backstep. The initial hit causing the Successful Backstep cannot Stagger you. However, any further hits past the first taken will cause the character to be Staggered as if they did not take any action or Guard.

If you dodge enemy attacks well, the damage taken will be always be reduced to 1 and it is an effect way to recover CC. Characters under Auto can also activate Backstep.
